BFF turns 18 @ Tao's Restaurant

We've known each other since 13 and finally he turned 18 yesterday! Though that didn't make any obvious change physically and intellectually plus nothing interesting since I turned 18 first, I, didn't wanna be called a miser, decided to give him a treat.

Thankfully he didn't pick an expensive place cause I would probably disappear before dessert making an excuse for toilet trip then leave him there to pay or wash the dishes. Whichever he prefers.

Making sure I'm (almost) picture perfect before leaving.

Headband to cover fading curls.

Outfit of that day.
Ignore my fat tummy, thanks.

Berries!

Bff and me.

Here we are! At PoMo.
What a name, I don't even know what it means.

Tao's Restaurant at B1.
Probably the only place (in SG) where you pay less than $30 for a 6 - 7 courses set meal.

I read lots of food review online and all of them mentioned about how good their service was. Initially I was doubtful about what they've written cause what I experience and what he others wrote is like, different. Turn out their service is really AMAZING in comparison with other restaurants in SG. We don't even need to wait for 30 seconds before getting seated. Only 10 seconds, didn't even have time to look at the menu they placed outside.

Their service was so fast I didn't have much time to camwhore. The waiter was already standing at the side of our table ready to take orders when I wanna check my camwhore shot. When I told them I haven't decide they didn't just walk away annoyed like other places. He stood there with a smile waiting.

Birthday boy.

1st course - Appetizer.
Their one and only appetizer, bacon and mushroom gratin, eaten alone or with slightly toasted soft bread.

2nd course - Salad.

Bff's choice, smoked salmon salad.
I like how I'm overwhelmed by the smokey smell and hint of saltiness.

My choice, fruit salad.
There's 6 types of salad to choose from.

Apple, peach and corn wrapped in flakes of seafood sticks.

3rd course - Soup.
Cream of mushroom for me while BFF ordered their cream of pumpkin that I didn't manage to get a clear shot of despite trying more than 5 times in macro mode (must be a hint for me to change my camera), both their signature soup among the 4 available.

Thick and filled with lots of mushroom.

4th course - Beverages.
Listed last on menu but came 4rd.

Ice summer peach tea - my choice.
Sweet but not too sweet. With a reasonably strong peach favour.

BFF's choice - Ice rose apple tea.
It's a must try! Rose is good for skin.

5th course - Main Entree.
Slow cooked pork back ribs, their signature. Very tender and better on it's own than with sauce.

Bff's oven baked steak.
I'm not a steak/beef person but this is good. On medium rare, it's not hard or too chewy.
That's Bff's review btw.

Realized it's all about food. Tender pork rib stuck on my fork.

Taking a break before dessert, exploring what they added in their teapot to serve such great tea.

6th course - Dessert.
Brownie with ice-cream. They don't specialize in dessert. There's a lack of flavor in their brownie.

Cream brulee, mine. Wrong choice. I bet other dessert they have will be better, picked this cause I heard a lot about it last year. Turn out it made me feel sick.

Done eating, we sat there waiting for food to digest.

My yellow lei-bin.

Our feedback.

Refused to leave till I finish their tea. It's a waste to not finish it.

$23.30 per pax. *thumbs up*

Don't you think it's worth $23.30 for a 6 course set meal? I was too full for dinner that night and went to bed without hunger. Alright! I'll blog soon.

Location:
