The saddest thing in my family is my mum is a stereotyper. Last thing you'll ever want. Especially when you grow up having someone(her) constantly telling you you can't dance, you're materialistic, you can't draw and ya da ya da.
I proved her wrong for the first when my teacher called her and said, "Ms Sim, your daughter can dance very well and I like her a lot."
Never have I ever denied that I'm a materialistic girl when my mum says I'm one. Even till now she'll constantly remind me that I'm one. Just because I show affection for labels I've been stereotyped as a materialistic girl. Oh wells. I still love labels.
As a kid I love drawing a lot but I never liked the way I was taught. Art class at Community Centre were never fun (to me) like how other kids think they are. Then I chose not to go for any art class. At this point in time my mum will appear and say, "You can't draw for nuts. You're like me. Your art is lousy. Only your dad, sis and bro can draw. We can't."
From then on she never allow my dad (who successfully got brainwashed by her) to enroll me for any classes cause she thinks I can't dance and draw and I love to give up halfway. But I just don't feel like going cause I don't like the way I was taught!
Now I know why am I in RP.
We were asked to design a logo for yesterday's problem statement (school work). I thought of drawing cause I didn't have photoshop.
Its like a virus. Everytime I pick up a pencil I'll remember, "I can't draw for nuts."
& I drew a merlion from the 80s. Draft.
To the extend of me feeling inferior and dare not show people what have I drawn. You're supposed to encourage your child. Not stereotype him.
Googled for Merlion and sketched it out.
Cheryl (left) drawing. Annie (center) looking at her phone.
And me obviously camwhoring with my almost-not-there eyebrow.
Look at how big it is!
A sense of satisfaction.
Outline done!
Looks totally like a Merlion. Whoots!
Alright. I'm gonna make an appointment with my manicurist (nail color chipped), get ear candling done (ears been really itchy) and maybe bake something.
Going to Mediacrop for Vasantham Star. Cause my friend, Jacintha is contestant No. 1.
Love you!,
ClaireChing.
