Billy, claiming he’s never been happy since he got married, asks his wife for a divorce. But Anna refuses, saying he’s the first and only family she’s had since she was 12 years old. She says the only way they’ll ever be apart is if she were to die.
While drinking whisky in her lavish yacht, a drunken Anna takes off her wedding band and throws it on the floor of the deck.
Forgetting that she herself had thrown the ring, she then beckons at it to come back.
Slipping and sliding drunkenly over the deck of the yacht, she bends over to fetch her wedding band. Just then, the boat tips heavily to one side, forcing Anna to lose her balance and fall over the side of the yacht.
Meanwhile, emergency rescue workers retrieve Eugene from the sea after almost drowning himself in an attempt to salvage his work tools. The rescue workers take him to the hospital.
After he recovers consciousness, Eugene swears revenge on Anna and throws a fit on his hospital bed. Just then, he hears a voice from beyond the curtains, telling him to keep it down.
Realizing he’s heard this voice before, he pulls the curtains back to see a disheveled Anna, looking pale and hurt on her own hospital bed.
Eugene, by now uncontrollably angry, is about to rush her when Anna, looking quizzically at him, cocks her head to one side and asks, “Do you know who I am?”
